Music Review: Elhae
Elhae is basically instrumentation in the physical form. He is a young R&B/Soul/HipHop connoisseur. Everything about this man’s music is dope…from the beat selection to the last word on the track. Indulge in the goodness he has to offer and your time will not be wasted. Below are the highlights from a few of my favorite songs!
- “Situations” (Album: Arura-2015)……The nostalgic vibes of Usher’s “U Don’t Have to Call” echoes through this song. The throwback melody throughout is a great touch. The beat is dope! Usher’s song is slowed down and broken up meticulously. It allows his voice the spotlight. I appreciate it because lately music avoids this approach. Also, its nice to get a male’s perspective about relationships. He’s singing from the perspective of heartbreak from a chick who didn’t deserve him. Then later, from the perspective of his dream girl wanting one of those infamous “breaks”.
- “Halfway Love” (Album: Arura-2015)…The instrumentation on this track is everything. The dopeness intensifies during the duration of the song. Great wordplay, the penmanship is appreciated. It’s very rare that artists these days say a lot with few words. He’s not extremely wordy yet says all the right things. Plus, I love a man that speaks to God in public, add a few curse words, sexual innuendos, a couple niggas and horns/piano…it’s hard not to put this in rotation.
- “Water” ” (Album: Arura II-2017)……If TLC’s “waterfalls” had a dope, skinny pants wearing, “woke” son then this song is it. The song is catchy, beat is grown and sexy, and the lyrics provide a delicate warning. It warns young adults to slow down and appreciate your current situation.
